Day 1 : Welcome to the land of the ascending dragon | Hanoi arrival

Location:

Hanoi Old Quarter

Accommodation Name:

Hong Ngoc Dynasty Hotel

Meals Included:

Evening Street Eat Tour

Xin Chao and welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival to Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, a Topas representative will welcome you to the land of the ascending dragon before heading straight to your hotel in the heart of the city.
Start your evening with a buzz by delving into the hubbub of Hang Be market, one of the Old Quarter’s vibrant local wet markets. Wet means fresh, so expect picture-perfect mountains of vegetables, a rainbow of tropical fruits for you to sample, and fish that couldn’t be fresher (because it’s still alive and kicking).
You’ve seen where it’s bought, now you’ll see how it tastes! Dive into an alley and settle down to a couple of spring rolls. While strolling to the dining points, you will get to know more about Vietnamese history, culture and local lifestyle from your experienced tour guide.

Then sample some of grill pork and the local brew with a refreshing glass of cold street beer before a tour of the fabled craft streets. Once you’ve made room, time for some more grilled noodles (Bun Cha) - one of the Old Quarter’s most famous food streets.
Finish off the day with a coffee of the dessert variety. Egg coffee is a quintessential Hanoi specialty with a fascinating history – spoon it up, satisfy your sweet tooth, and learn the story behind one of Vietnam’s most unusual drinks.

Day 2 : Hanoian history and culture | Hanoi

Location:

Thăng Long Imperial Citadel, Vietnamese Women's Museum, Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre

Accommodation Name:

Hong Ngoc Dynasty Hotel

Meals Included:

Breakfast, Lunch

Understand more about Hanoi’s 1000-year-old history in the monstrous Citadel, true testament to Vietnam’s strength, history, art, and culture. Stroll around the leafy gardens, marvel at the ancient architecture, and learn about the Citadel’s central position of power – which it maintains even today.
In many ways, women are the unsung heroes of Vietnam’s story, which is why the superb Vietnamese Women’s Museum is an essential visit while in Hanoi. Explore the role of women in the war effort, the colorful reflections of Vietnam’s ethnic diversity, and you may even catch a temporary exhibition from a woman artist.
Take a cyclo ride to explore one of the Old Quarter’s most picturesque houses, with tiled flooring, ancient wooden beams, and antique furniture.

Finish the day with a water puppet show, an ancient Red River Delta art that has existed for centuries. Watch as the puppets seemingly dance on the water to a soundtrack of traditional Vietnamese music, from royal chamber music to countryside tunes.

Day 3 : Ninh Binh Full Day | Hanoi

Location:

Hoa Lư District, Tam Cốc-Bích Động

Accommodation Name:

Hong Ngoc Dynasty Hotel

Meals Included:

Breakfast, Lunch

Ninh Binh remains one of Vietnam’s most captivating locations and an excellent day trip from Hanoi, combining stunning natural splendor with an engrossing history that spans a millennium.
Hoa Lu, established a thousand years ago, was the capital of Vietnam under the Dinh and Le dynasties. The sights and smells still evoke the atmosphere of a lost kingdom, with stunning temples and pagodas built by the different dynasties and elaborate tombs to commemorate them. You’ll also uncover evidence of ancient palaces and royal pavilions that reference an ancient era, surrounded by towering karst mountains and vivid jungle. Take a bicycle and dive into Tam Coc and adjacent countryside, passing small villages and bright green rice paddies along the way. Swap your bicycle for a boat and hop into a small sampan rowed by a local in Thung Nang valley.

The trek continues to My Son, where the Xa Pho, one of the most isolated groups in Sapa, live. The trek ends in Nam Cang, a Red Dzao Village, which is also coincidentally where the accommodation for the night is, the boutique homestay styled Topas Riverside Lodge.
The Red Dzao are noted as great healers, so this is a great opportunity to try traditional methods such as herbal baths made with herbs plucked from the mountainside, either before or after dinner.
Note: Due to the high altitude, the morning walk may shift to the lower valley of Lao Chai and Ta Van if the weather is too foggy to see anything.
