Lower-Division Transfers
Who is a Lower-Division Transfer?
All applicants with fewer than 60 transferable semesters (or 90 quarter) units of college credit are considered lower-division transfer students. Most CSU campuses do not admit lower-division transfers. Stanislaus State will make an exception and admit lower-division transfers for the Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 terms.
Lower-Division Transfer Eligibility
You are eligible for admission as a lower-division transfer if you meet the following requirements:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) or better in all transferrable units attempted
- Have completed, with a grade of C- or better, a course in written communication and a course in mathematics or quantitative reasoning at a level satisfying CSU GE Breadth Areas A2 and B4 requirements, respectively;
- Be in good standing at the last institution attended; and
- Meet any one of the following eligibility standards:
- Transfer based on Current Admission Criteria– The applicant meets the freshmen admission requirements in effect for the term for which the application is filed; -OR-
- Transfer based on High School Eligibility– The applicant was eligible as a freshman at the time of high school graduation and has been in continuous attendance in an accredited college since high school graduation; -OR-
- Transfer based on Making Up Missing Subjects– The applicant was not eligible for admission as a first-time freshman solely because of deficiencies in the comprehensive pattern of college preparatory subjects (A-G), but has made up any missing A-G requirements with a grade of C- or better, and has been in continuous attendance at an accredited college since high school graduation.
Upper-Division Transfer Eligibility
You will qualify as an upper-division transfer student if you:
- Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semesters or 90 quarter units
- Have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA
- Are in good standing at the last college or university attended
- Complete 30 units which meet CSU general education requirements with a grade of C- or better. These units must include the following four courses with a C- or better; a grade of CR is also acceptable:

2. Register for new student orientation
New Student Orientation is a mandatory requirement for all incoming transfers. At NSO you will meet our exceptional faculty and staff who will assist you with academic advising and course registration. SAC Nursing Program Admission Process:
Prospective students are strongly advised to attend a NursingOrientation given by the Counseling Department, which can be reached athere.
To be eligible to apply for admission to the Nursing Program, you must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission and have graduated from high school (equivalent) or have earned a college/university degree. In addition, prospective students must complete the following steps:
Step 1.Complete SAC Nursing program prerequisites or equivalents: General Human Anatomy (Bio 239), Human Physiology (Bio 249), Microbiology (Bio 139 or 229), and Freshman Composition (English 101 or 101H).
Please note:
- Science prerequisites must have been completed within the last seven years, prior to application and mustbe in aface-to-face format(exception forspring/summer/fall 2021 online lectures and labs).
- All the prerequisites require a grade of “C” or higher, with science prerequisitecourses having a combined GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Each prerequisite course can be repeated one time for a better grade.
- No penalty will be assessed for withdrawing from prerequisitecourses.
Step 2.Pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)ATI TEASwith a 62% or higher on the first attempt, after documented remediation, or after one year from the previous attempt (certainHESI and PAX-RN resultswill be accepted-must have tested in all 4 required areas on the same testing date: math, English, reading, and science).

Selection to the first semester of the Nursing Program is throughthe Multi-Criteria admission process.
Proportionally, the students invited to enter first semester will be selected based on:
- 20% of available spots: Random selection of qualified applicants
- 75% of available spots: Highest points earned, based on the Multi-Criteria Grid. In the case of a tie in points, a lottery will be conducted. An additional 20 students will be selected as alternates.
- 5% of available spots: Re-entering students
Students who decline entry are required to re-apply for possible selection through the multi-criteria admission process.

Students are required to have transportation to and from off-campus clinical sites.
**Please note** This is considered a full-time program. Students are advised to limit outside employment. Excessive work schedules combined with family and school commitments may contribute to being unsuccessful in the program.
