What is the HOTAS WARTHOG system? ›

Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick for PC is a high-end flight stick designed for use with flight simulator games. It is a replica of the A-10C Warthog joystick and features a number of realistic features, such as a metal construction, a variety of buttons and switches and a dual-throttle system.

The result is a replica set of the joystick, dual throttle system and dual throttle control panel of the U.S. Air Force A-10C attack aircraft. Weighing in at more than 6.5kg and using metal for the joystick, throttle handles and bases, the Hotas Warthog joystick is physically imposing.

There isn't any Force Feedback or Rumble effects for HOTAS, only centering spring works.

Description. HOTAS is a shorthand term which refers to the typical configuration of the core controls of fighter aircraft. Having all critical switches on the stick and throttle allows the pilot to keep both "hands on throttle-and-stick".

Hotas, Joystick, or dual sticks are the most immersive, but just about anything will work. Controllers have the issue of having very few buttons so 'shift' buttons are usually required to cram all the binds needed onto a controller. Joystick/hotas with lots of hats and buttons are probably the easiest to fly with.

Officially, congress approved the aircraft's retirement in 2023, but such plans have not taken effect as the United States Air Force has yet to confirm adequate replacement capabilities.

HOTAS, which stands for Hands on Throttle-And-Stick, is one of the most immersive ways to play. There are a variety of kinds and you can use them to gain total control of your aerial vehicles in a large number of titles. This emulates how pilots have controlled aircraft since the late 1950s.

The control stick is usually located on the floor of the co*ckpit; the pilot straddles it in his or her seat. Sometimes called the “joystick,” it controls the airplane's attitude and altitude like the yoke.

There are four four-way hat-switches on these controls, so HUD controls, pitch and yaw, and weapon selection can become very customized to your play style.

There's no twist axis, so there's no rudder control unless you either: get rudder pedals (the ideal solution)

JOYSTICK - Compatibility with CLOUD GAMING and STREAMING

"IMPORTANT: Flight controllers are not compatible with games in CLOUD GAMING or STREAMING mode (in particular those in GAME PASS, Xbox Remote Play, PlayStation®Plus, GeForce NOW, Luna, …). In CLOUD GAMING or STREAMING mode, only standard gamepads are compatible.

It is compatible with Xbox One but if you're playing Microsoft Flight Simulator through cloud gaming it will not work because according to Xbox Support: "Flight sticks and other non-standard controllers are not yet supported on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

You could get a large section of wood/MDF and stick some material to the back. Bolt your throttle and joystick to the other side (put the material over anything that comes through, but try and keep it all flat).

While it's possible to play the title with a mouse and keyboard or sit back with an Xbox controller, the experience is geared towards ultimate realism when paired with at least a joystick or a fully-fledged HOTAS (hands-on throttle-and-stick) set.

The aircraft's mission is ground attacks against tanks, armoured vehicles and installations, along with close air support of ground forces. A total of 281 A-10 aircraft are in service with the USAF, Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard (ANG).
