Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport is Vietnam’s busiest airport with about 40 million passengers per year. The IATA airport code SGN is an abbreviation for Saigon, the city’s former name. The majority of the flights at the airport are operated by Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Pacific Airlines and Bamboo Airways. They offer cheap flights to many destinations in Vietnam, like the capital Hanoi.

The airport of Vietnam’s largest city is located just northwest of the city centre. The centre of Ho Chi Minh City is formed by Da Kao, Ben Nghe, Ben Thanh and Pham Ngu Lao, these wards are part of District 1 (Quận 1).
How many terminals does Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport have?
The airport has two terminals, namely T1 / Domestic Terminal and T2 / International Terminal. Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport’s terminals are interconnected. If everything goes according to plan, the new Terminal 3 will open in 2024 with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year. Despite the airport expansion plans, growth opportunities are limited, due to the location in the middle of the city. For this reason, a new airport, called Long Thanh International Airport, is being built 40 kilometres / 25 miles east of Ho Chi Minh City. The opening is scheduled for 2025.

TSA Agent was rude to me and I’m a minor who didn’t understand Vietnamese. He literally displayed his scanner thing as a threat to hit me it. I was trying to pass security check and the TSA Agent thinks I’m Vietnamese when he literally can see my passport that says Republic of Singapore. 2 TSA Agent kept saying “Go back and put it separately”. 1 assisted me and one was threatening to hit me with his scanner saying “Don’t understand?!”. Bullshit airline, revoke him from his position. I believe that’s not how a TSA Agent should be treating passengers.

It's easy to get from HCM Airport to city centre. After exit from arrival hall, walk out to exit 6. Cross the road. The small van type in red colour with no49 goes to city center. Just tell the conductor of your exit point. Its only vnd15,000. It takes about 30-45 minutes.
